Group permissions

1 minute

Group rights are user assignments to defined groups. These groups define the rights within the system and apply to all assigned user accounts.

The Logic of Groups

In the PIM system, groups are distinguished between local groups and customer groups. This division serves to maintain clarity. The general logic is identical for both types of groups. It is not always sensible to differentiate many permissions. However, in large systems with many fields, it can be advisable for clarity within the system.

Internal groups = Local groups

The purpose is to differentiate internal groups (local groups), i.e., typical internal organizational levels such as marketing, sales, and logistics, where this appears practical.

External Groups = Customer Groups

External groups should have different authorizations for customers, such as trading partners. This way, external access can also be controlled and will not be confused with internal assignments.

Group rights are combined with roles. Roles such as Admin, Editor, Reader, etc. define what the user is allowed to do in the system.
