Buyout rights are copyrights that can be controlled and managed in the DAM system.
Buyout rights
The buyouts are copyrights that were specified by the copyright holder for a video or image, for example. If a company commissions a photographer, they can sell their image rights with fixed specifications. These specifications include the following in our system:
- Buyout Start Date
- Buyout end date
- Region
- Copyright holder
- Buyout description
Additional fields can be defined by their own fields; usually, the fields mentioned above are sufficient.
Buyout logic
The system logic primarily considers date values. If a start date and an end date are set, the system will automatically archive the associated media file upon reaching the end date. Only users who have received archive authorization in the role system will then have access. This typically includes all internal users.
Additionally, when setting up buyout data of any kind, a notification will be displayed. For data basket downloads, a text file with the buyout information will be downloaded in addition to the media file.
Every user who wants to use the media file will receive the complete buyout information, either transferred or displayed directly. This ensures that the information regarding the use of the file has been communicated.
