Download formats are generated media versions of the original file. These formats allow media data in different file formats, file sizes, pixel values, color formats, or color spaces.
Download formats are created via administrators in the backend. These media formats can be defined and subsequently authorized with the following parameters:
- File size/pixel values, e.g., 2000 px longest side
- File format (jpg, tif, png)
- Color Space CMYK to RGB
- Application of stored color profiles
- Application of embedded clipping paths (paths) so that semi-transparency can be generated with the PNG file format (24-bit format)
- Analysis of image content to create non-proportional images
Why are there download formats?
Only the optimal original format is needed for each image. Uploading additional formats like jpg, gif, etc., as was common practice before, is no longer necessary. This will significantly reduce the complexity of media data management and greatly improve flexibility.
We can provide you with exact specifications on how this original file format must be set up. This way, you can provide your agency with ideal guidelines so they know how to deliver data.
Typical use cases for download formats?
Download formats are needed in the following scenarios, for example:
- 300 dpi JPG with transparent background for print production
- 2,000 px JPG RGB for web use
- 2.000 px PNG/24-bit for office and web use
- 3000 px with clipping path and defined formats for GDSN (GS1)
- custom formats
- and many more
